Welcome to Le Clos de la Meslerie, a charming 4-hectare vineyard passionately nurtured by Peter Hahn and his wife Juliette. Twenty years ago, Peter left a high-flying finance career to chase a dream: crafting a small, sustainable vineyard with an unwavering commitment to quality. Here, every process is done by hand, letting nature lead the way.
At Clos de la Meslerie, Peter typically produce just one cuvée each year, exclusively using Chenin Blanc grapes. These grapes, from four distinct parcels, are gently squeezed using an ancient manual press. The juice then undergoes a lengthy fermentation on lees for 4 to 6 months. Relying on gravity, the wine is carefully guided into the cellar, where each parcel's yield is matured separately in oak barrels for about a year. The bottling of the wine is a natural process — the grapes themselves decide whether the year's cuvée will be dry, off-dry (tendre), or sweet.
Peter's philosophy is simple: no intervention. His sole aim is to create the purest expression of Chenin Blanc and the unique terroir of Clos de la Meslerie. Each bottle is not just wine; it's a heartfelt story of passion, dedication, and the harmony between man and nature. Experience the authentic essence of this vineyard in every sip.
“..wine is made in the vineyard. What happens in the cellar is ancilliary at most and irrelevant at best”
